Is there a way to keep completed tasks on the calendar?
Is there a way to keep completed tasks on the calendar?
Updated over 4 months ago

Completed tasks are removed from the calendar when your schedule gets recalculated. Due to the nature of the recalculation feature and the rapidly changing schedule, completed tasks could quickly stack up and overlap with each other if they weren't removed upon recalculation. This has high potential to create a chaotic, stressful schedule with overlapping blocks all over the schedule.

However, we understand it is motivating to see how much you've accomplished. You can view completed tasks in the "Completed" tab of the menu.

Why was "Completed tasks stay on calendar" removed from the roadmap?

It is true that the feature, "Completed tasks stay on calendar", was previously in progress on our roadmap. We were ready to implement it after deciding to solve the "chaotic overlapping" mentioned above by making tasks in the future immediately snap to the current time when they were marked complete.

However, after testing a proof-of-concept for several weeks, we decided to remove this feature from the roadmap, because it did not align with FlowSavvy's core purpose. FlowSavvy's core purpose is to reduce the effort required to time block the future through simple automatic time blocking, and we found this feature to not align with this purpose for the following reasons:

  1. Increasing the clutter on the screen distracted from the future plan.

  2. Leaving completed tasks on the calendar radically increased the desire to tinker with past time blocks so the time blocks accurately reflected the past. This goes against FlowSavvy's goal of reducing tinkering/overwhelm.

  3. We discovered that leaving completed tasks on the calendar is a slippery slope to other features like automatic progress tracking with start/stop mechanics, detailed and editable work logs, merging past time blocks, and statistics on completed work, which are all secondary to FlowSavvy's core purpose of automatically planning the future.

As a reminder, completed tasks can still be viewed in the Completed tab.

For now, we will continue focusing on making FlowSavvy the best app for automatic planning, though we may revisit this in the future once we have satisfactorily accomplished our primary objective.

Because we may revisit this in the future, if you have any thoughts on this feature or would like to see us re-prioritize keeping completed tasks on the calendar, please submit a feature request using the in-app help center with as much detail as possible. Thank you!! ๐Ÿ™
