As part of FlowSavvy’s recent major update, we’re officially saying goodbye to tags on December 1st. This article explains why we made this decision and how you can easily migrate your tags before then.
Why We’re Removing Tags
Keeping FlowSavvy simple is one of our top priorities. Every new feature adds complexity, and we work hard to make sure FlowSavvy stays intuitive and approachable, even as it gets more powerful.
With the introduction of Lists, tags have become mostly redundant. Lists provide a clearer, more natural way to organize your tasks — a place where tasks live, not just something they’re labeled with.
Because of that, keeping both systems (tags and lists) would make FlowSavvy more complicated without adding much value. To keep the app clean and easy to use, we’ve decided to remove tags completely.
How to Migrate Your Tags to Lists
Tags will be removed on December 1st, so you’ll want to decide how to handle your tags before then. Since tasks could previously have multiple tags, but can now belong to only one list, you have two main migration options:
Option 1: Convert to List
This option turns a tag into a new list. All tasks that had that tag will be moved into the new list automatically.
If any of those tasks also had other tags, you’ll be asked whether you’d like to:
Append those other tag names to the task’s notes, or
Remove the other tags from those tasks completely.
Option 2: Append Tag to Task Notes
If you don’t want to turn a tag into a list, you can choose to simply append the tag name to the notes of every task that had that tag. This keeps your tag information visible, just in a simpler format. This also means you’ll still be able to search for tasks by tag name, because the search function includes notes.
If you choose this option, each tag will appear on its own line in brackets at the end of the task’s notes. For example:
Existing notes about the task here...
[Work]
[Urgent]
After choosing either option, the tag itself will be removed from those tasks.
Moving Tasks in Bulk
To make the migration easier, we’ve added bulk move functionality to all list and tag views. To move multiple tasks at once:
Click Select tasks at the bottom of the screen.
Choose the tasks you want to move.
Click Actions → Move tasks.
Choose the list you want to move them to.
This is helpful if you want to reorganize tasks manually or make additional changes during the transition.
What Happens After December 1st?
If you don’t migrate your tags before December 1st, don’t worry — your data won’t be lost. After that date, all remaining tags will automatically be appended to the notes of the tasks that had them. That way, you’ll still have all your tag information available for reference, just no longer as an active feature in FlowSavvy.
Final Thoughts
We hope you enjoy getting started with this new lists feature! Please let us know if there's anything we can do to help make this transition smoother for you, and as always, thank you for your feedback and support!
