To keep FlowSavvy's UI simple, events can typically only be Busy or Free. However, sometimes you might need more fine-grained control over your events' availability. Please find your use case below for any known workarounds for your use case.
Block teammates from scheduling with you without blocking FlowSavvy
Google Calendar: Use the "Focus Time" or "Out of Office" event types to block time in your main Google calendar, and then turn "Busy" off on that event in FlowSavvy. Focus Time and OOO events cannot be set to Free in Google, so the event will be treated as Free in FlowSavvy and Busy in Google
Outlook and iCloud: If your main Outlook or iCloud calendar is synced to FlowSavvy, there is currently no workaround to block your main calendar in Outlook or iCloud without also blocking FlowSavvy. If your use case requires this functionality, please submit a feature request on the home screen of the in-app help center.
Block meeting schedulers (Calendly, TidyCal, etc) without blocking FlowSavvy
Note: If you need to block both meeting schedulers and teammates from scheduling with you, please see the above section instead.
To block meeting schedulers without blocking FlowSavvy, follow these steps:
Create a new calendar in Google, iCloud, or Outlook (example name: "Busy in Calendly, Free in FlowSavvy")
Configure your meeting scheduler to check this new calendar to determine availability
Ensure this calendar is not synced to FlowSavvy
Whenever you need to block clients from scheduling with you via your meeting scheduler, create a "Busy" event in this new calendar. It will block your meeting scheduler, but it won't be synced to FlowSavvy, so FlowSavvy can still schedule tasks during that time
Block FlowSavvy from scheduling without blocking teammates and clients from scheduling with you
To prevent FlowSavvy from scheduling tasks without preventing your teammates or clients from scheduling with you, follow these steps:
Create a new calendar in FlowSavvy (example name: "Not synced" or "FlowSavvy only")
Whenever you want to block FlowSavvy during a certain time, create a "Busy" event in this new calendar. Because this calendar isn't synced to your other services, teammates and clients can still schedule with you, but FlowSavvy won't schedule tasks during this event.
Treat all events in a synced calendar as Free
You may have a partner's or teammate's calendar that you want to view in FlowSavvy without blocking FlowSavvy from scheduling during their events. There is currently no way to automatically treat all events in a synced calendar as Free, so the best option will be to not sync that calendar to FlowSavvy and instead view it only in its source calendar (Google, Outlook, or iCloud).
Alternatively, you can use services like SyncThemCalendars to create a copy of the calendar with the Free/Busy value overridden to Free, and then sync that copy calendar to FlowSavvy.
Treat all events in a synced calendar as Busy
You may have a synced calendar that should block your time, but the events in that calendar are incorrectly set to Free instead of Busy. There is currently no way to automatically treat all events in a synced calendar as Busy, so the best workaround is to change them to Busy one by one as they come up in your FlowSavvy calendar.
Alternatively, you can use services like SyncThemCalendars to create a copy of the calendar with the Free/Busy value overridden to Busy, and then sync that copy calendar to FlowSavvy.
Change the Free/Busy value of one event in FlowSavvy without affecting the synced calendar
The only way to change the Free/Busy value in FlowSavvy without affecting the source calendar is if you do not have edit permissions on either that event or on that calendar.
For example, if you subscribe to a shared calendar with view-only permission, you can change the Free/Busy value in FlowSavvy, and the source calendar will not be affected. If you have edit permissions though, your changes will be synced back to the source calendar.
If you have edit permissions on the calendar in Google/Outlook/iCloud, we recommend sharing the calendar with view-only permissions to another Google/Outlook/iCloud account you own, and then sync that intermediary account to FlowSavvy. This will allow you to change the Free/Busy value in FlowSavvy without affecting the source calendar, and if you need to make changes to the source calendar, you can still do so on your main Google/Outlook/iCloud account.
